Dakota Johnson Stars as Madame Web in Upcoming Superhero Film
A New Twist on a Classic Character
Dakota Johnson is set to take on the iconic role of Madame Web in the upcoming superhero film "Madame Web." The movie, which is the beginning of Cassandra's story, sees Johnson put her own spin on the character.Johnson wanted to make sure that she brought something new to the role, while still staying true to the essence of Madame Web. "I really wanted to explore the character's humanity," she said in an interview. "She's a woman who is struggling with her own identity and her own powers, and I wanted to show that vulnerability."
A Star-Studded Cast
In addition to Johnson, the film also stars Sydney Sweeney, Isabela Merced, and Celeste O'Connor. Sweeney plays Anya Corazon, a young woman who discovers that she has the power to control gravity. Merced plays Silver Sable, a skilled mercenary, while O'Connor plays Julia Carpenter, the second Spider-Woman.The film is directed by S.J. Clarkson from a screenplay she co-wrote with Claire Parker and the writing team of Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless. The film is produced by Sony Pictures and is scheduled for release in 2024.
